A wide range of MULTIX saws for multi-blade saw systems from GLOBUS

The GLOBUS brand currently has the widest range of MULTIX series saw blades for cutting fresh wood in multi-blade saw systems.
Kurier Drzewny No. 05/2013 (May)

MULTIX professional saw blades are dedicated to ripping fresh soft wood and fresh hard wood in single- or double-shaft multi-blade
saw systems.

GLOBUS offers three solutions for blades with sintered carbide for pre-treatment of wood: MULTIX PLUS series saw blades, MULTIX STANDARD series saw blades and MULTIX series saw blades (without wiper slots). Each version features design solutions which differ in the number of wiper slots in the disc. All of the series are equipped with a disc ensuring high rigidity in the harsh environments typical of high performance single or double multi-blade saw systems. Depending on the species of wood and the cutting characteristics and technologies, a variety of blade stereometries are used, for example a straight stereometry of GM blades and alternately slanted stereometry of 2GS blades.

Saw blades of the MULTIX PLUS series with a large space between the teeth and special tooth structure allow work with high cutting parameters. PLUS-type teeth are in this case particularly suitable for cutting fresh soft wood. The wiper slots embedded in the disc are not actually involved in the cutting process, but contribute significantly to the correct collection of dust and thus the correct operation
of the tool. The much thicker HM tips (4 mm) used in the PLUS series can further extend the service life by increasing the number of saw blade grindings. As standard, for outer diameters of up to 350 mm, all of the saw blades in this series feature a special coating characterised by extremely low surface energy, that is, having good anti-adhesive properties preventing dirt from clinging to it – in the course of the cutting process the coating prevents resin and chips from sticking to the side surface of the saw blade. In addition,
the coating has a low coefficient of friction, which in the cutting process eliminates vibration friction and prevents burning of the side surfaces.

The MULTIX STANDARD series is a good solution for work at sawmills, where cutting of dry wood has a significant share. STANDARD series saw blades with more teeth (e.g. 24 z) can be used successfully in cutting dry soft wood, but also dry hard wood. The wiper slots properly placed in the disc of the saw blades in this series allow a very rapid removal of chips from the cut surface. In addition, the STANDARD series is characterised by smooth and quiet operation. Saw blades are equipped with four driving grooves by the edging pass for driving wedges. The special design of the grooves allows the saw blades to be placed in a helical arrangement, resulting in a balancing of the blades around the shaft. This has a significant effect as regards the quiet and stable operation of the saw blades and the consumption of the entire drive system of the multi-blade saw system.

The third series for pre-treatment, the MULTIX PLUS saw blades, do not have wiper slots or cleaning slots soldered into the disc. They are designed for ripping fresh soft and hard wood in single- or double-shaft multi-blade saw systems with medium processing parameters – the feed in the multi-blade saw system should not exceed 10 m/min. Specially designed openings in the disc structure, beyond the supporting role in chip removal, provide very good cooling of the blade, ensuring a long and stable operation for the tool.
As with the series mentioned above, the PLUS-type teeth which are used are especially recommended for the cutting of fresh soft wood. The saw blades have large sintered carbide (HM) mountings in relation to the thickness of the saw blade disc. They are often used for cutting fibre wood, e.g. aspen and poplar

In each of the above series an important factor not only in the correct operation but also in the increased efficiency of the blades
is the use of a proper chip extraction of high efficiency.

As a result of recently introduced investments in the production line for circular saw blades, the range of outside diameters for saw blades which it is possible to produce will soon increase. GLOBUS currently has the ability to produce MULTIX blades with a diameter
of up to 630 mm. You can find the wide range of saw blades for the pre-treatment of wood at our website

Blades with a specially selected tip

The high durability and service life of the blade and a stable disc are advantages of the new series of GLOBUS brand slitting saw blades for finger joints.
Gazeta Przemysłu Drzewnego No. 04/2013 (April)

Finger jointing is a method of combining wooden elements using wedge joints, commonly used in the manufacture of first fix joinery,
in construction, furniture and many other industries which use wood or materials derived from it. The new slitting saw blades with soldered HSS tips from GLOBUS can be used in the creation of these joints.

Optimisation of wood consumption
The finger jointing technique allows for the use of raw materials of a much lower quality and a significant optimisation of the consumption of higher quality wood. Given the high cost of raw material and its availability, finger joining techniques provide sawn timber processors with an opportunity to increase the efficiency of their work.

The technology of joining short workpieces lengthwise using finger joints is also popular among manufacturers of furniture and first fix joinery. Production of furniture panels using finger joints is economical, and the laminated panel is more durable – a multitude of glued joints provides the product with a higher strength than laminated panels made of full boards. Finger joints are also appreciated by many manufacturers of hard landscaping and even of wooden houses.

New series
Finger joints can be formed in two ways: the 'zigzag' joint and the 'line' joint. In the first case the teeth of the joints cover the whole width of the element. The 'zigzag' joint is used chiefly by manufacturers of doors and windows, as well as by manufacturers of glued laminated elements for use in the construction industry. In a 'line' joint the teeth are hidden beneath the intersection. Such a joint allows a product of significantly higher functional values to be obtained, which is why the technique is used in the manufacture of chipboard.

The new slitting saw blades with soldered HSS tips from GLOBUS can be used for both of these joints. The range includes:
  • slitting saw blades for multi-wedge 'line' joints – for lengthwise and widthwise joining
  • slitting saw blades for 'zigzag' joints – for lengthwise joining.

Cutters for multi-wedge 'line' joints - splicing - joint profile 1
Cutters for multi-wedge 'line' joints - splicing - joint profile 2
Cutters for multi-wedge 'zigzag' joints - splicing - joint profile 3
Cutters for multi-wedge 'line' joints - widening - joint profile 1

Among the main functional advantages of the new series of slitting saw blades is the specially matched HSS tip, providing the blades with a high strength and long service life. Another advantage is the stable disc – the process of the dynamic balancing of the tool in the course of manufacturing ensures a stable operation for the slitting saw blade. The manufacturer has also introduced an 'economic' tooth – the tooth shape and thickness of the HSS tip combined with the correct use of the slitting saw blade allows for up to 40 grindings.

GLOBUS slitting saw blades for finger joints are recommended for the production of structural timber (beams, square-sawn timber, bales, boards, laths), bent structures (roof trusses with elaborate shapes), wooden doors and windows, wooden furniture (legs, tops), wooden stair elements (bars, railings), wood for tabletops (e.g. kitchen tables), window sills made with solid slats, wood flooring, shelves, wooden stairs, flat structures for box furniture (e.g. beds) and structural elements of furniture doors.

Cutter geometry improves edge quality

GLOBUS has recently introduced new tools meeting the growing expectations of users.
Gazeta Przemysłu Drzewnego No. 10/2012 (October)

Timber mills, manufacturers of garden equipment and the furniture industry increasingly expect new structural solutions for tools with a longer lifespan, guaranteeing a high quality in machined material surfaces and providing high stability in operation.

HM precutting saw blade
Service lifespan for saw blades is lengthened with the HM precutting saw blades, designed to remove bark and impurities at the log slitting site. These saw blades are utilised on band saws at timber mills equipped with a debarker. The use of HM saw blades can significantly extend the life of the band saw. By using a saw for debarking, the time required for manual removal of earth, stone and bark from processed logs is significantly reduced. The characteristic reinforced geometry of the HM saw blade teeth, with an angle of attack of 15 degrees, guarantees quality and productivity. A special wide HM tip makes it possible to remove bark and dirt seamlessly and efficiently.

HM saw blades for pendulum cut-off saws
This series of tungsten carbide saw blades is used in the process of cutting firewood with cross-cut (pendulum) saws in the typical diameter range 550-750 mm. They are used at companies involved in the production of fuel wood as well as by households. The firmly embedded, large and straight tungsten carbide, the use of a stroke limiter and the additional laser cuts in the disk together provide optimal control of the saw while cutting full logs.

Cutterheads for rounding and chamfering
The new woodworking tool solutions for the garden range include a cutterhead with interchangeable blades for rounding and chamfering the edges of the workpiece, with adjustable rounding and chamfering blades. The main advantages of this cutterhead include, in particular, a lightweight body made of aluminium alloy, the potential for many machining capabilities – heads are available in widths ranging from 130 to 240 mm – the universality of the tool – one tool can perform a variety of roundings or chamfers through quick replacement of the blades (each head is equipped with a set of blades with different radii and chamfer lengths) – and the achievement of a very good workpiece surface. In addition, profiles with a depth of up to 9 mm can be created using the straight blades included in the cutterhead. This could be employed for terrace board profiles for example. With this solution and the use of a scale placed along the slots, any width of board can be easily set and processed.

DIA polycrystalline diamond tools
GLOBUS DIA router bits are created according to the latest construction with a helix of PCD tips in at least three spirals. An advantage of these tools is the acquisition of a higher efficiency and better processed material surface.
DIA router bits for nesting
Worthy of particular attention are the newly introduced DIA router bits for nesting. The elements in this process are properly arranged to obtain the optimal use of the raw material as part of cut-out optimisation. The tools enable the accurate cutting of rectangular elements and workpieces, a reduction of costs owing to the need for a small number of personnel and comprehensive treatment of the cut-out, drilling and milling for hinges in a single pass. DIA router bit bodies for nesting are made of two types of material: special high-strength steel and heavy tungsten carbide of a high density. The special spiral design and arrangement of the PCD tips allow for very good removal of dust, which contributes to the achievement of high quality tool operation, using high parameters such as speed and feed rate. DIA router bits for nesting are also characterised by the small diameter of the working part and shank. The two-component design of the router bit body with this small-diameter working part and shank brings increased durability and longer lifespan to the tool in the course of cutting, while at the same time allowing the preservation of a high quality in the edge of the material being processed, for example laminated and melamine chipboard, MDF and other wood-based materials.

A new generation of GLOBUS tools

Presented at the FPiN Wapienica booth in the course of the Drema Fair in Poznań were GLOBUS brand cutting tools for wood and wood-based materials which at the beginning of this year joined the company's product portfolio, as well as those for which the process of marketing is nearly complete.
BIZNES meble.pl No. 5/2012 (May)

For the pre-treatment of wood, we offer a new series of thin tungsten carbide blades, including a series of Multix saw blades. These saw blades are designed for slitting fresh softwood and hardwood on single or twin shaft multi-blade systems. Also presented were new tungsten carbide saw blades of the Glotech 2 series with a thin disc for cutting wood-based materials. In addition, Wapienica's booth saw the appearance of a new generation of GLOBUS tungsten carbide saw blades of the Glotech 2 and Marathon 2 series, for cutting wood-based materials with scoring saw blades, and the Perfectcut series for cutting furniture frames. These saw blades have new disks together with new noise reduction and harder tips to allow a greater length of board to be cut.

The solution most innovative for the furniture industry to be demonstrated at the fair was the Marathon 2 series with its stable disk, a new and more profiled tungsten carbide tip, and the profile of the space between the teeth adapted for processing wood-based materials of a homogeneous structure.

On the other hand, Perfectcut is a brand-new saw blade for cutting MDF, HDF, hardboard and homogeneous wood-based materials on horizontal panel saws with a thickness of up to 25 mm, recommended especially for cutting furniture mouldings, with a high efficiency and high quality in the edges cut. Its strengths include an extra hard tungsten carbide tip – nanograin – a new stable and quiet disk and an optimal geometry for the teeth and expansion grooves. Visitors were also very interested in the new generation of Aluex series saw blades for the door and window joinery segment (but not only) for cutting sections from aluminium alloys and PVC profiles. Presented too were new profile cutters for rounding and chamfering, for milling terrace boards and for milling / profiling imitation logs with manufacturers of wooden building components in mind.

FPiN Wapienica prepared for the booth a special TOP SERWIS area, where visitors had a chance to talk about proper maintenance and its impact in increased lifespan for GLOBUS tools. This year, customers had more specific expectations for concrete solutions. As such, a number of interesting contacts were made, especially in new areas of tool application. In addition, the arrangement of the exhibition won the recognition of the jury of the Acanthus Aureus competition, earning the company an award for the stand most favourable to the implementation of the marketing strategy.

90 years of the GLOBUS brand

KD: When was your company established?
Jerzy Miciek: The beginnings of the operation of FPiN Wapienica in today's Wapienica neighbourhood in Bielsko-Biała date back to April 1921.

KD: Who was the founder of the company and why did he decide to form a company in this sector?
Jerzy Miciek: Polsko-Śląska Fabryka Pił i Narzędzi Sp. z o.o. was created with the combined capital of three owners – Oskar Fabini, Artur Schadl and Redl. This marked the beginning of the production of saw tools in Poland on an industrial scale. It is difficult now, after so much time has passed, to attempt to pinpoint specific reasons leading to the foundation of the company. We can only assume that the former owners had been monitoring the sector closely before deciding to start the business. In addition, the beginning of the '20s was a time in which Poland was being reborn, and so too was its industry, which needed new products.

KD: How did the structure of the plant change over the years?
Jerzy Miciek: As I mentioned, in the first years of its operation during the 1920s the ownership structure of the company was unchanged. In 1932, Oskar Fabiani's brother sold his share in the company to Jan Korn, who sold it in turn four years later to a new owner, Fryderyk Wladarz. In the interwar period employment was quite variable and usually depended on the number and size of the orders being completed. During the war, the factory operated under a changed name, as Schlesiche Sägenfabrik Lobnitz, b.Bielitz Beskiden. Gustaw Schadel Junior and Fryderyk Wladarz remained the owners. The post-war history of the factory is in many ways similar to that of most of the old industrial plants. At that time, the maximum number of staff was around 120 people. In the initial phase, after 1945, the development of the plant was determined by the difficulties of a country destroyed by war. In 1948, a state-owned company was founded under the name Fabryka Pił i Narzędzi WAPIENICA, and in November 1949 the plant took over the machine park of the closed-down Katowice Saw and Tools Factory, as well as its GLOBUS trademark – now known to customers not only domestically, but also abroad. On the strength of many decrees issued by the Ministry of Industry in the years 1950-89, the factory repeatedly changed its form of operation and was part of various tool conglomerates. In 1996, the factory changed its legal status, and from then on was a public limited company under the name of Fabryka Pił i Narzędzi Wapienica Spółka Akcyjna. The year 2004 was a time of crucial changes in the proprietary structure of the company. At the end of October and beginning of November, the majority ownership of the company was purchased by KOELNER S.A. of Wrocław, a leader in the mounting technology market.
KOELNER S.A. is a private company managed by the Koelner family which, beyond the production and sale of industrial mounting systems, is also the owner of the MODECO brand, a producer of hand tools and power tools. We recently changed the legal status of the company and have since 1 June 2006 been a limited liability company with the name Fabryka Pił i Narzędzi Wapienica Sp. z o.o. Over the entire period of operation, all of our tools have been sold under the GLOBUS brand.

KD: How has the range of products changed?
Jerzy Miciek: The structure of our products has, of course, evolved over the past 90 years very rapidly. In the early years of the company, and during the interwar period, we had a fairly wide range of products for the times. The main products were such tools as:
  • cross-cut saw blades with lengths of up to 2,000 mm with a thinned face and so-called hooks, sharpened; these saw blades were also made with a length of 3,500 mm for orders from South America;
  • conventional circular saw blades with a diameter of up to 1,000 mm, hardened and sharpened; in a non-hardened state with a diameter of up to 400 mm and special circular saw blades – concave and conical one- and two-sided;
  • gang saw blades with lengths of up to 2,000 mm;
  • band saw blades with widths of up to 80 mm, supplied to customers already welded into sections of the desired size;
  • bow saw blades complete with stretchers;
  • joiner blades;
  • bread knives – circular;
  • blades for flywheel cutters;
  • circular saw blades for metal with a diameter of 300-700 mm, uniform, hardened at the circumference and sharpened before hardening.
The average monthly production was around 500 pieces of gang saw blade, 2,000 circular saw blades and 4,000 cross-cut saw blades of various sizes. Joiner blades for sash saws and one-man woodworking saws were also included in the production plan and sold during the '30s. In the post-war era, the increase in production in many basic industries imposed the need to supply cutting tools for wood and metal as well as craft tools. In this period, the factory supplied 5,000 cross-cut saw blades, bow saw blades and joiner knives, 2,000 circular saw blades, 1,000 gang saw blades and 10,000 blades for flywheel cutters.
Being produced in 1946 were eight tool assortments in 80 type dimensions; in 1960, 44 assortments in 741 type dimensions. The beginning of the '70s saw the production of drill bits for masonry and concrete begin, with this directly related to the purchase of a license from BOSCH for the production of hammer drills and jackhammers by the Electric Machine Company CELMA in Cieszyn. The ever-increasing demand for metal cutting tools, mainly for metal slitting saw blades, power saw blades, hand saw blades, HM-tipped circular knives and segmental saw blades, is linked with decisions on moving less significant product ranges to other plants.
At present, GLOBUS is able to offer over 2,000 different product ranges in over 30 major product groups, including blades for power tools, HSS power hacksaw blades, hand saw blades, profile cutters, DIA diamond tools, metal slitting saw blades, router bits, drill sets, circular tools, profile cutterheads, shaped heads, VHM router bits and drills, shank groovers, chisels and point chisels, planer knives, band saw blades for wood, wood saw blades, diamond saw blades for wet cutting, segmented saw blades, chain saw blades, friction saw blades, diamond saw blades for power tools, gang saw blades, HM-tipped circular saw blades, ordinary circular knives, band saw blades for metal, drill bits for masonry and concrete and many other products available for individual customer orders.

These ranges of GLOBUS products are tools aimed mainly at three market segments:
  • the WOOD segment – tools for the wood and furniture industry;
  • the METAL segment – tools for working with metal, aluminium and PVC;
  • the CONSTRUCTION segment – various tools for the construction industry.

KD:  Who were your products originally aimed at and how did the structure of distribution change over the years?
Jerzy Miciek: In the interwar period, the products manufactured were aimed mostly at the wood, metal and agricultural industries. Distribution took place on the basis of individual contracts concluded for the manufacture of a given amount of tools with major trading companies on the Polish market and abroad, and to large industrial companies. After the war, the distribution structure changed significantly, since the new political and economic conditions contributed quite significantly to the centralisation of the company's activities. Tools were distributed through a number of commercial centres in Poland, and in foreign markets through the Office of Foreign Trade. Today the distribution of tools occurs through various forms of channel, including through a network of companies in the TOP HURT and TOP SERWIS group, KOELNER distribution centres and sales representatives.

KD: What services did the plant offer in the past and what services does it offer today?
Jerzy Miciek: In the early years of the company, we offered no services to customers, and only manufactured tools. It was not until the early '90s that we introduced the sharpening and regeneration of tools manufactured by us. We currently offer a wide range of after-sales services, including sharpening, regeneration of manufactured tools, laser cutting services and services provided by our tooling department on behalf of third parties. After-sales service for tools manufactured is a very important component of what GLOBUS has to offer, so in 2010 we launched a new project, TOP SERVICE. Companies in the TOP SERVICE network, i.e Authorised GLOBUS Tool Sharpening Shops, have successfully undergone an accreditation process and received a special certificate providing authorisation for the maintenance of our tools. This year, we intend to further develop this project.

KD: How have the machine park and the plant floor changed over the years?
Jerzy Miciek: The founders of the factory based their production methods on models derived at Styria in Austria – one of three centres of saw manufacture. At that time, the input material included hot rolled steel sheets, imported from Austria. Production took place in quite specific conditions. A production hall of around 800 m2 had wooden walls, filled with slag, and a wooden roof supported by posts. Machines were powered using a transmission system, driven by a high-pressure combustion engine, which was replaced by an electric engine in 1935. The production technology of the time was dependent to a large degree on the skills of an expert staff. After 1945, the old machines and cramped conditions of the facilities made it impossible to undertake any new ventures. The only solution was to expand the factory, which happened in 1946, simultaneously with the start of production. By 1955, the factory had four production facilities and two warehouses, as a result of which the production area had increased tenfold. Constructed in the years 1967-68 was a new production hall with technical and social facilities of an area of around 2,500 m² and 1,500 m² for the manufacture of drills for cast iron and steel with a capacity of 1.5 m pcs./year. New warehouses for the storage of steel were also built and an office building was opened in the '70s.
In the mid-'80s, a new production hall with an area of over 4,000 m2 was opened. Modern material cutting technologies introduced throughout the world during the '80s were also implemented at FPiN. As one of the first in the country to do so, the factory applied the technique of laser cutting in the process of preparing semi-finished products.
The 1990s and the first decade of the 21st century brought further growth in investment and the development of modern processes. In recent years we have introduced to the production processes new automated grinding centres, enabling the introduction of a wide range of tooth geometries in circular tools. We have also bought a new line with an automated and fully controlled soldering process. In the manufacturing process we use a laser (non-contact) measurement and analysis system for disk flatness, the results of which are illustrated in 3D.

KD: How did the company celebrate its 50th anniversary?
Jerzy Miciek: Given that the 50th anniversary took place in 1971, that is, under the previous system, the event had a unique character. The main celebrations were held at the Bielsko Theatre, while there were also opportunities for so-called labour emulation and the presentation of diplomas and awards to the most deserving employees.

KD: What are you preparing for the 90th anniversary?
Jerzy Miciek: This year we are planning to introduce several new ranges to our portfolio and will offer some very interesting promotions to our customers. We will also organise an exhibition on the history of the company and our tools entitled '90 Years of the GLOBUS Brand in Poland and Abroad'. The opening of the exhibition is planned for the early days of May. We are also preparing a special section at our website dedicated to the anniversary. Anyone visiting it will find a great deal of interesting information and facts drawn from the life of our company and – importantly too – visitors will also be able to take advantage of special promotions prepared for the occasion.

KD: Do you know yet what attractions will be organised for the celebration of the 100th anniversary?
Jerzy Miciek: We have not planned that in detail just yet, although various ideas do come up and are carefully recorded.

KD: What has been most difficult in running the plant for so many years?
Jerzy Miciek: The most difficult moments are associated with periods in which large changes occurred in the system, and here I am thinking of the war and the period following it, meaning the expansion and adaptation of the company to the new system. During the war, in 1940, the wooden buildings of the production hall burnt down, which in that situation became a real problem for the local community employed at the factory. Another difficult time was the period of system and market transformation in the early '90s, when the market forced us to take on new and unknown challenges.

KD: What have been the greatest ups and downs for the company in the course of the past 90 years?
Jerzy Miciek: Luckily, in the course of these past 90 years our company hasn't had the 'pleasure' of experiencing any downs. If I could name a few ups, I would certainly include the dynamic growth in the 1960s and '70s, and the investments in the past decade.

Save time with adjustment of the kerf width

GLOBUS
is expanding its offer of trim saw blades with a trim saw featuring the COMFORT smooth adjustment system. With the use of this system, the trim saw's kerf width can be easily and quickly adjusted to match the main saw's kerf width.
Gazeta Przemysłu Drzewnego,  No. 4/2009 (April)

This system does not require using plates or disassembly and reassembly of the set which is significant in reducing the time needed for retooling the machine. Customer tests have indicated that the average time needed to change settings is no more than several seconds. These tests, which were performed by a group of customers cutting chipboard and MDF on horizontal panel saws, show that the smooth kerf width adjustment system guarantees:
  • reduced retooling time
  • precise cuts
  • light trim saw operation
Additional advantages of the system include: the long life of the adjustment system and the low weight  of its frame, made from a special type of aluminium. Trim saw adjustment is achieved thought a ¾ turn of the knob with a kerf width adjustment range of 2,8  – 3,6 mm, without the need to remove the trim saw from the machine's shaft. The COMFORT system makes rigid adjustment possible thanks to the use of a very precise thread. Setting the kerf width is in itself a very simple procedure consisting of releasing the unlocking the adjustment mechanism using a hex key, setting the kerf width by turning a knob and locking the adjustment mechanism. The hex key is included in the trim saw set. Additionally, the set includes a hex key for disassembling trim saws, and a spacer. Trims saws featuring the COMFORT smooth adjustment can be used with main saws with a kerf width range between 2,7 – 3,5 mm. This system is compatible with most machines available on the market. When the trim blades wear out, the system allows for their easy replacement.
The smooth adjustment system is available in trim saws with sintered carbide plates COMFORT HM and trim saws with polycrystalline diamond COMFORT DIA. HM and DIA saw blade replacement sets are also available in the manufacturer's offer.

New disks in the group of saw blades for GLOBUS power tools

The group of circular saw blades featuring sintered carbide for GLOBUS power tools has been expanded recently with a new saw blade series Steel-Tech electro and Set1.
Narzędzia Elektronarzędzia,  No. 1/2009 (February-March)

The Steel-Tech electro series is equivalent to the steel saw blade series Steel-Tech with the difference of being a series of small diameter saw blades for use in hand-held saws. Steel-Tech electro are used in cold metal cutting. Saw blades contain a special sintered carbide, which guarantees simple, exact and clean cuts, leaving no jagged edges or burn marks, without the need for further processing, with minimal heating up and sparking. Comparative tests of cutting, using abrasive disks made by renowned manufacturers show the supremacy of Steel-Tech saw blades. The cost of a single cut is the lowest using saws with sintered carbide, and the time related to the frequent replacement of the tool in the case of abrasive disks is the shortest. Working conditions are much better, since blades with sintered carbide do not create clouds of grinding dust and do not generate heat, and thanks to the use of special blade geometry (GC)
and noise-reducing slots in the blades, they provide a much lower level of noise and vibration.
Uses of the Steel-Tech electro series
Steel-Tech electro saw blades are used for cutting metal sections, strips of trapezoidal sheets, bars, grates and connections. They are capable of cutting soft steel, stainless steel and coated or lacquered steel elements. The Steel-Tech electro series is aimed mainly at all customers expecting a high mobility from the tool during work, as well as a high precision guaranteeing the appropriate quality of work. Analyzing the circular saw blade market as well as the client’s requirements, the company has decided to offer a series of saw blades for power tools designed mainly for  household needs, where an attractive price, as well as good work parameters is desired. In answer to these needs, Wapienica has created the Set1 series – disks for the quick cutting of solid wood.
Set1, Koliber, Osa
Set1 saw blades have a thinner disk, less teeth and a thinner layer of sintered carbide, which results in the lower cost of production, while preserving the desired functions. The offer of circular saw blades for Globus power tools also includes the Koliber, Brytan and Osa series. These are a series of professional saw blades for cutting various types of material. Koliber is a saw blade used for cutting wood and wood-based materials, Brytan – for cutting materials containing metallic inclusions and mortar, Osa – saw blades for cutting composite panels, non-ferrous Al, Cu metal sections, polycarbonate boards, wood-based materials and PVC profiles. Saw blades in these series,
as distinguished from the Set1 series, have thicker disks and sintered carbide, thanks to which they can be sharpened and regenerated multiple times, which is reflected in the price and translates into quality and savings during exploitation. Due to the above factors,
the Koliber, Brytan and Osa series are used mainly by companies providing general construction services, woodworking shops, etc.
Globus saw blades for all power tools
A wide assortment of type dimensions in an individual series guarantees that an appropriate saw blade will fit the given sawing machine. Saw blades offered by Globus have a universal character and can be used universally in power tools available on the market. A full type dimension offer of saw blades for power tools is available at www.globus-wapienica.eu.

Full polycrystalline offer

Fundamental factors shaping the quality of tools are: long lifespan and processing precision. FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd. offers polycrystalline diamond cutters DIA which fulfill these requirements.
Kurier Drzewny BN,  No. 7/2008 (October)

The development of new production technologies, manufacturing techniques and materials for production in the timber and furniture industries requires the use of tools which are most modern in their construction. Actions aimed at optimizing the manufacture processes strive to shorten the time of performing certain technological tasks and increase the precision and repeatability of the product. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to use high-efficiency tools and tool sets of various shapes and construction, which are able to perform
a number of operations during one production cycle without the need for retooling machines. FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd. offers a full production program of DIA tools, including edge bander heads, formatting heads, circular saw blades and shank cutters.
DIA GLOBUS shank cutters are created according to the newest construction with a helix of PCD plates in at least three spirals. One advantage of these tools is the achievement of higher efficiency and a better surface of processed materials. The number, arrangement and size of PCD plates guarantee uninterrupted contact with the material, always leaving an ideally clear edge of the processed element. Additionally, there is a possibility to select the direction of shavings ejection from the milling cutter. Milling cutters direct the stream
of shavings precisely in the selected direction in a way which does not disrupt further production operations, especially on CNC machines with the direct covering of the narrow edge. In the standard version, shank cutters are produced with a bottom ejection. Supplementing the whole range of shank cutters with PCD blades is the assortment of profiled tools produced upon the client’s request according to the drawing or design of the tool, or if needed, of the processed material.
Working with DUO TOP 4 or DOU TOP 3 milling cutters, a 10 m/min rate of feed can be achieved, in material such as plywood, while maintaining the highest quality of the processed edge. The tool’s life, calculated in running metres processed, is incomparable to rival products. Companies which have already tried this solution have implemented it permanently and are not considering going back to “eco” milling cutters with a double spiral. These milling cutters are not only efficient, but also increase the production capabilities through a feed rate higher by even 20% in comparison to other similar solutions. Milling cutters with this type of construction are less susceptible
to mechanical damage of the blades caused by impurities in the processed materials, especially in chipboard. Many clients of the company have found that the milling cutters offered on the market have problems with their body overheating after the first or second grinding, which causes visible burning marks, especially behind the first trim blade.
In effect, these “inexpensive” milling cutter are not economical, and their efficiency and quality of work goes visibly down after the first grinding.
An innovation in this assortment is the milling cutters TRE TOP 4 Champion and QUATTRO TOP 4 Special with a quadruple spiral.
They are characterized by a more technologically advanced body construction, maintaining proportions of core size and tool diameter, which are more crucial for its lifespan. A rarity on the market, they possess a large blade arrangement angle, which has a particular effect on the quality of the processed material and lifespan of the tool itself. These milling cutters make the processing of wood and wood-based materials possible. They also guarantee very high feed rate parameters while maintaining an excellent quality of the processed material’s surface. An optimal construction of the body behind the blade makes grinding the milling cutter possible until the very end, without any losses to its efficiency and quality of work after subsequent grindings. Particularly worth noticing are milling cutters specialized for a given type of processing, QUATTRO TOP 4 Special, which are the most technologically advanced solutions of this type available on the Polish market. QUATRO TOP 4 Special cutters are designed for processing boards laminated on both sides (for example tops), while maintaining
an ideal edge on both sides of the material’s surface. Besides the highest quality of processing, another advantage of these milling cutters is their fast work – a rate of feed of even 20 m/min.
Circular saw blades are a traditional product of the Wapienica factory. Recently, their assortment has been expanded by saw blades with PCD teeth, seated on top of special blade bodies prepared for the heaviest loads, which these types of tools can be subjected to.
Most PCD tools are coated with a special chromium layer. The offer includes the main saw blades as well as trim saw blades ranging from
80 to 60 mm in diameter, with the PCD plate height of 3 to 6 mm. The wide selection surely makes it easier for clients to make
a decision about purchasing their first saw, and for experienced users purchasing the most efficient 6 mm PCD saw blade.

Tools on the Internet

Currently, reaching clients is a key factor of effective salesmanship. That is why companies are starting to think seriously about their presence on the Internet.
Kurier Drzewny,  No. 2/2008 (May)

In mid-May, a new website has been launched by FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd., owner of the GLOBUS tool brand. The website is much more effective than their old one. Appropriately selected colours in the shades of blue and steel harmonize well together and create a positive atmosphere for exploring the website.
The centre part of the page contains news, presenting new products, important events in the life of the company, various pieces
of information and promotions. First-time visitors to the website, who are not familiar with FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd., can find information about the company on the left panel. It contains information such as: history, quality policy, range of operations, etc. Every visitor can sign up for the newsletter or recommend the site to others using modules located in the bottom left corner. However, the main element of the site is the products which can be purchased directly through www.GLOBUS-wapienica.eu. The products can be searched for using three types of criteria, two of which can be found on the list on the right side. The first criterion is: Selection by Tool Type, and the second: Selection by Use. The third option appears after selecting a product. A bookmark appears on the right side, at the top: Product Marking.
If, for example, it is a marking HM, by clicking on this field we see all tools with HM plates and all solid carbide tools. Therefore, this type of search is done according to the markings of given products. All products possess the same model of description. Each model contains: photos; two types of descriptions: production details, technical data, use, markings, and the data of the person responsible for the product. Registered and logged in users can view product prices, see promotions available for these products, submit orders, inquiries, etc. The main buyers of GLOBUS tools – authorized wholesalers – will have access to additional modules, such as: inventory, viewing products according to price indexes, and offer creation for their clients.
Those not wishing to make purchases on the Internet can find information about the sales network. Besides the addresses and names
of dealerships, the locations of wholesalers and stores are available on zumi.pl, Google Maps and Targeo.

Between the modern and the traditional

The nearly 90-year-old history of GLOBUS demonstrates our commitment towards our clients, and our name has become synonymous with high quality for many people in the timber industry in Poland. Our constant innovation is the reason why our business partners are satisfied, and it is a source of satisfaction of our employees and company’s board of directors as well.
Produkcja Mebli,  No. 3/2008 (April)

The company has existed since 1921, and in its almost 90 years of existence it has earned the reputation of being a supplier providing reliable solutions for the furniture, timber, sawmill and construction industries. The company’s offer includes a wide range of products, including regular or carbide circular saw blades, planer knifes, circular knives, mill saw and band-saw blades. The produced tools are bought by clients in small businesses as well as large companies who use the tools in high-efficiency production lines. Taking into consideration the requests of long standing business partners, the company has expanded its offer in the recent years by introducing formed cutters and cutterheads.
In the last year, new solutions appeared in the company’s offer: DIA polycrystalline diamond tools. They met with an enthusiastic reception. The company’s representatives are convinced that the new innovations will repeat the success of MULTIX – saw blades for the sawmill industry. “This series of saw blades has performed well in plants processing raw wood”, says Jan Kuś, marketing specialist at FPiN Wapienica. Additionally, major investments in the machine park are being made. This will help us to meet the growing requirements of our clients in regard to the availability of goods while maintaining high quality standards. “We are even more glad about the changes taking place, because they are being noticed and are meeting with a positive reaction not only by our regular clients, but also visitors present
at the Drema Fair” – said Jan Kuś. “This means that our clients are keenly interested in our tools”.
Close contact with the buyers is an important aspect of the company’s strategy. Hence, this is why we decided to participate in “Drema”. The event is a good chance to present not only new products, but also the positive changes made in order to improve the company’s communication with the public. This is one of the reasons why we have presented our website, www.globus-wapienica.eu, which will be fully available starting May 5th, during the Drema Fair.
The new website and the solutions implemented therein make it possible to get to know not only the whole offer of the company, but also to quickly and easily find an appropriate tool and a group of tools, also based on their use or based on material processed. The result is that searching the website becomes almost intuitive and finding selected items in the catalogue can be done in many ways. The company’s representatives openly admit that they have taken their clients’ opinions and requests into consideration when creating the website.

Controlled stream

Tools with an appropriate durability and precision are one of the basic factors shaping the quality of the final product.
FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd. offers milling cutters which meet these requirements.
Kurier Drzewny,  No. 1/2008 (April)

PKD milling cutters are created according to the newest construction with a helix of PCD plates in at least three spirals. An advantage achieved with these tools is higher efficiency and better surface quality of processed materials. The number, arrangement and size of PCD plates guarantee uninterrupted contact with the material, always leaving an ideally clear edge of the processed element. Additionally, there is a possibility to select the direction of shavings ejection from the milling cutter. PCD GLOBUS milling cutters direct the stream of shavings precisely in the selected direction in a way which does not disrupt further production operations, especially on CNC machines with direct covering of the narrow edge. In the standard version, they are produced with a bottom ejection. A supplementation of the whole range of shank cutters with PCD blades is the assortment of profiled tools produced upon the client’s request according to the drawing or design of the tool, or if needed, of the processed material.
Shavings ejection
Particularly advanced construction is a unique characteristic of special DUO TOP 4 type milling cutters. These milling cutters, which have an axial ejection of shavings, possess an additional marking “W”. Their shape significantly improves the removal of shavings and fast cooling, when high temperatures are often reached during work. Inner channels in the core work as a turbine directly in front of the cutting blade, sucking up shavings through the inside of the cutters. The solution eliminates the problem of the fast removal of a large number of shavings in the case of a high rate of feed.
Faster rate of feed
Working with Top 2+2 “W” milling cutters in many cases can take place with a rate of feed of 10 m/min, in material such as plywood, maintaining the highest quality of the processed edge.
Durable body
An innovation in this assortment are milling cutters TOP 3 TURBO with a quadruple spiral. They are characterized by a more technologically advanced body construction, which maintains proportions of the core size to the tool diameter which are most crucial for its lifespan. As a rarity on the market, they possess a large angle of blade arrangement, which has a particular effect on the quality of the processed material and lifespan of the tool itself. Milling cutters with this type of construction are less susceptible to the mechanical damage of blades caused by impurities contained in the processed materials, especially in chipboard. An optimal construction of the body behind the blade makes grinding the milling cutter possible to the very end, without any losses to its efficiency and quality of work after subsequent grindings. Many clients of the company have found that the milling cutters offered on the market have problems with their body overheating after the first or second grinding, which causes visible burning marks, especially behind the first trim blade. In effect, these “inexpensive” milling cutters are not economical, and their efficiency and quality of work goes visibly down after the first grinding. In the TOP 3 TURBO and TOP 4 TURBO types, particularly worth taking note of are milling cutters with the additional “W” marking, probably the most technologically advanced solutions of this type available on the Polish market. Their basic advantage is a high quality of processing and most of all, fast work – rate of feed of up to 20-24 m/min.
PCD saw blades
Saw blades are an ever-present product in Wapienica’s offer. Recently, their assortment has been expanded by the introduction of PCD saw blades seated on top of special bodies, adapted for the highest loads that these types of tools can be subjected to. Most PCD tools are coated with a special chromium layer. The offer includes the main saw blades as well as trim saw blades ranging from 80 to 60 mm in diameter, with the PCD plate height of 3 to 6 mm. The wide selection makes it easier for new clients to decide about purchasing their first saw, and for experienced users it enables them to purchase the most efficient 6 mm PCD saw blade.

Professional saw blades with the Tatra Mountains in the background

This year’s annual meeting of FPiN Wapienica’s wholesale clients turned into a mini-fair. Participants had a chance to see a presentation of the company’s most important products in a cyber-booth.
Meblarstwo,  No. 6/2007 (June)

The mini-fair GLOBUS Fair Zakopane 2007, which took place at the end of May at the Zakopane hotel Stamary, could become an example for companies which already possess an established position on the market, but are constantly thinking about their development and finding new clients. Globus Wapienica chose not to participate in this year’s edition of Drema, in order to invite wholesale buyers and the most important clients to a meeting at a cyber-booth.
The most important product presented during the meeting was the new Glotech Diamond, a saw blade containing polycrystalline diamond produced in its entirety in Wapienica. The saw blade was created on the basis of imported polycrystalline. It is a yet another top-shelve tool from the Glotech series for this market segment. These saw blades are accompanied by trim saw blades, which are even more popular on the marker than the main saw blades. Compared to carbide blades, the lifespan of Diamand saw blades is a hundred times longer. An optimal result of this blade’s run is 100 km between grindings when cutting wood-based materials. These saw blades are most commonly used in panel machines producing furniture. Diamond PCD milling cutters are irreplaceable in CNC machine tools. They are used in the furniture industry in cutting out arc furniture parts. The number of diamond lines in the milling cutter determines its lifespan. In the case of GLOBUS milling cutters, one diamond line has been used. This type of milling cutter makes it possible to process eight metres of material per minute. Its helical construction makes it possible to increase the rate of feed, increasing production efficiency at the same time. GLOBUS milling cutters are equipped with shavings storages, and additionally milled out zones also allow for increasing the rate of feed to a level exceeding milling cutters of a comparable class. The application of hard chrome coating increases the durability of these tools and protects them from surface corrosion during work and grinding. GLOBUS's offer also includes shank cutters from plastic carbide, which makes it possible to use milling cutters of a lower diameter with a greater feed. A group of special milling cutters includes cutters with a so-called axial shavings removal. This allows achieving a greater feed rate and protects the cutter body from overheating. The collection of the shavings takes place through the interior of the body, which has an axial opening. Shavings are removed outside the work zone of the processed material.
MULTIX Diablo is a new series of saw blades coated with a special fluoropolymer coating. Fluoropolymer coatings, due to their protective properties, are widely used in many branches of the industry. A fluoropolymer coating is characterized by small surface energy, i.e. it possesses good lubricating properties that prevent impurities from sticking to the surface. It also possesses high endurance against various substances: acids, bases and organic solvents. It dissolves only in contact with hydrofluoric acid. While cutting, the surface prevents resin and wood from sticking to the blade’s side surfaces. The saw blade’s coating is resistant to the temperature of up to 260°C. Fluoropolymers are characterized by a minimal friction coefficient, which minimizes the effect of friction vibrations and prevents grinding burns of side surfaces.
Globus’s offer is expanded by band-saw blades produced from two types of tool steel. Pirania Plus saw blades are made with steel enriched with molybdenum and vanadium, and Orka Plus blades are made with steel with an increased chromium content. A number of saw blade variants are available to the clients. Those include band-saw blades:
  • hardened, ground, set
  • sharpened, set
  • unground, unset.
GLOBUS can supply welded saw blades and in coils of 100m. Band-saw blades are produced using repeatable technology. Blades are toothed to an accuracy of 0.02 mm. The polished tooth shape prevents microcracks from occurring. Tempered teeth guarantee a longer saw blade lifespan and increased efficiency of the cut, especially when cutting frozen wood. Globus saw blades have a rounded top, which protects it from cracking during work.

Investing in new solutions

Jerzy Miciek, Chairman of WAPIENICA, talks about effective ways of reaching timber industry representatives as well as the new assortment and tools which can be used in the most technologically advanced production processes.
Gazeta Przemysłu Drzewnego,  No. 4/2007 (April)
Sylwia Marciniak

GPD: The timber industry’s attention is concentrated on the most important exhibition in our country – the Drema Fair. However, GLOBUS will not be seen in Poznan this year. What is the reason?
Jerzy Miciek: It is known that the fair is not a place of strictly business meetings, but more of a place to exhibit oneself, one of the elements of nurturing the company’s prestige. We do not wish to give up on it, however, our plan is to use the resources designated for exhibiting at fairs, which are not at all small, in more effective ways, by employing other forms of reaching existing as well as potential clients.
GPD: How then do you plan on reaching timber industry representatives and presenting your offer to them?
Jerzy Miciek: In various ways, mainly through direct contact with clients. Our experience shows that small, regional industry meetings are much more effective. These types of events make it possible to present our offer to a specific group of buyers. Meetings with buyers, often organized along with leading business partners in the region, besides training, guarantee continuous client support and often tool servicing, which is offered by our partners. Another way is though industry press, such as your publication, where we have a chance to be present, and also through participation in fairs like Drema, but not necessarily every year.
GPD: What new products are you going to offer to companies specializing in woodworking?
Jerzy Miciek: Most of all, new assortments, like: formed cutters, cutterheads and solid carbide shank cutters. The first batch of
information has already been presented to our buyers and has been well received. A more thorough offer of our assortment will be available in April, which will attract a much larger group of interested buyers. Many changes are taking place in the assortment of carbide circular saw blades as well. This assortment is being continuously modernized. In the nearest future, we will present a new series of carbide saw blades for cutting wood-based materials, which guarantee a very high level of quality of the cut, and most of all, a great lifespan. We have also prepared new solutions regarding the reduction of noise in carbide saw blades. New saw blades, modernized in this aspect, will be available in May of this year. Another relatively new assortment in our offer is band-saw blades for wood. Taking advantage of this occasion, I would like to invite all those interested to purchase our band-saw blades for wood, which are being sold right now at very attractive prices.
GPD: One of the new positions in the GLOBUS catalogue are PCD tools. Why should the timber industry be interested in those?
Jerzy Miciek: Because these tools present high quality and efficiency. This group of tools is used in the most technologically advanced production processes. That is why they must have a technologically advanced construction. What makes our offer different, first of all, is a large assortment of PCD tools, from shank cutters, through circular saw blades, to profiled tools custom made for clients. Second of all, the unique solution of the construction, which significantly increases the efficiency of the tool, maintaining a very high quality of the processes surface and increasing the tool’s lifespan. The best recommendation is the fact that companies which have already tried our milling cutters have put them to use for good and are not planning to go back to the typical, simple “eco” milling cutters, whose only advantage is their low price. We not only sell new tools, but we also provide a comprehensive service of grinding PCD tools using the most modern Vollmer machines.
GPD: Will 2007 be a favourable year for investments undertaken by businesses? Will Wapienica also invest in the development of the company, its machine park or maybe in new technologies?
Jerzy Miciek: Definitely yes. The new ownership system, which the factory became a part of – we are one of KOELNER Group factories – has brought and is still bringing good results through fulfilling investment plans. The plans for 2007 predict investments on the level of 7 million PLN. These investments will include new machines and technologies, the largest part of which will be solutions related to the production of tools for the timber and furniture industries.
GPD: What are the company’s plans for the upcoming years? What changes can clients expect in your offer?
Jerzy Miciek: The completion of investment plans will result in the premiere of a new generation of tools, meaning tools with a high functional value. This regards saw blades as well as milling cutters. Research projects carried out in cooperation with research facilities regarding carbide circular saw blades will make it possible to offer a product of the highest class from the point of view of quality and economy of use. We also plan to expand the scope of our tool services, shortening the time of their completion and to continue expanding our Technical Advisory team. Recently, three new advisors have been hired. The professional way of solving problems related to the use of tools is becoming a guarantee of achieving success on the market. A consequent fulfilment of our goals will result in the well known GLOBUS brand becoming synonymous with the best tools.
GPD: Thank you for talking with us.
Chairman Jerzy Miciek guarantees that the modernized carbide saw blades, using a new noise reducing solution, will appear in Wapienica’s offer as early as May.

Durable and Friendly

Stepping up to meet the expectations of customers, WAPIENICA offers saw blade construction solutions which fulfil industrial safety and other requirements, as well as requirements related to increasing tool lifespan.
Forum Branżowe, No. 4/2007 (April)

Construction solutions implemented in GLOBUS saw blades consists of various shapes and length slots in the disc.
Saw blades with these incisions are called low-noise blades. Usually, 3 or 4 slots are placed symmetrically on the circumference or in the middle of the disc.
Their task is to split the surface up into few parts, which decreases the amplitude of transverse vibrations. These incisions may be additionally studded with copper or filled with noise reducing material. ALUEX series low-noise saw blades are laser-cut. Laser cutting allows achieving a slot with a width of 0.2 mm, with any type of shape, without causing indentations and without destroying the structure of the material near the slot. The use of slots in the saw blade disc reduces noise up to 40%.
Lowering transverse vibrations of the saw blade increases its lifespan and improves the surface of the processes material.
Another technical innovation introduced by the company is covering saw blade discs with a special anti-adhesive coating. Fluoropolymer coatings have an exceptionally low surface energy, i.e. they have good lubricating properties that prevent impurities from sticking to them, which is very crucial while operating saws – the coating prevents the remains of the cut material from sticking to side surfaces of the saw blade. Moreover, fluoropolymers are characterized by a minimal friction coefficient, which minimizes the effect of friction vibrations and prevents grinding burns of side surfaces. Saw blade discs covered with anti-adhesion coats are resistant to the impact of most chemical compounds, including corrosion. The implementation of anti-adhesion coatings in MULTIX series carbide saw blades for wood has extended the life of these tools, which resulted in further research on the use of these coatings in saw blades used for cutting material other than fresh, raw wood.
Currently, the company is introducing a new version of GLOTECH MARATHON series saw blades, with a special anti-adhesion coating, prepared for working with wood-based materials, such as MDF, HDF boards, etc. GLOTECH saws possess special GS, GA, GŁ, W3S toothing shapes, depending on the type of material being cut. The use of appropriate toothing geometry is related to decreasing the cutting force and lowering the wear-and-tear of the blade, resulting in an improved quality of the cut. Four basic toothing angle types are differentiated: tool rake, clearance angle, reverse draft angle and downward draft angle. Each of these angles is produced with the highest precision because of its high impact on the cutting process. GLOTECH MARATHON will contain special carbide with a very high hardness of 2300HV, which allows for a great lifespan of the tool due to a slower process of blunting the cutting edges in HM plates.

Devilishly good saw blades

The efforts of FPiN WAPIENICA in finding new technologies are translating into a number of construction solutions in the produced tools.
Gazeta Przemysłu Drzewnego,  No. 8/2006 (August)

Saw blades with anti-adhesion coatings are among new solutions offered by the company for significantly improving the service conditions of tools. Recognizing the possibilities brought by the use of fluoropolymer coatings, the company has introduced a new version of Multix type saw blades. Due to their characteristic carbon colour of the coating, they received the name Diablo.
New coating
From a wide range of fluoropolymers, a coating designed especially for saw blades was selected. As WAPIENICA representatives assure us, the manufacturer of coatings is an unquestionable leader in the industry, which gives us an assurance of very high and repeatable quality of the coated tools. The most important advantages of fluoropolymer coatings include:
  • minimal friction coefficient, eliminating the effect of friction vibrations and the overheating of the side surface of the blade,
  • prevention of resin and wood sticking to the saw disc, especially on disc surfaces behind the teeth,
  • high resistance of the tool to high temperatures occurring during the cutting process.
In order to confirm the effectiveness of this type of coating, a number of tests were performed with the clients (on fresh conifer wood – spruce, pine). MULTIX type saw blades for multi-blade saw systems with doctor blades were subject to the testing. Higher requirements are put on this assortment, which works in difficult conditions and is most exposed to damage while in use. As a result of the tests, it was determined that using MULTIX Diablo saw blades (with a fluoropolymer coating), in comparison to standard MULTIX type saw blades, decreases tool exploitation costs up to 30%, and in calculating one cubic metre of sawn wood, even up to 35%. The new type of saw blades also makes it possible to save up to 40% of the time related with retooling the machine park. The achieved savings in tools, in the time of the constant search for lowering production costs in the timber industry, are an element worth considering.
Chromium and diamond
Shank cutters with PCD polycrystalline diamond are also new to WAPIENICA’s offer. These milling cutters are the most unique because of their spiral’s type and shape, which makes it possible to achieve high rates of feed. The company, as the only one on the Polish market, offers chromium covered milling cutters, which significantly increases their look, but most of all prevents rusting during use. Moreover, polycrystalline diamond guarantees the long lifespan of the tool.
Assortment of products for woodworking
The offer of GLOBUS brand tools is also expanded in the areas of planer knives and band-saw blades for wood – PIRANIA Plus and ORKA Plus. Planer knives are offered in a new range, expanded by carbide knives, with a much longer lifespan in comparison to knives made from HSS or NCV1. Band-saw blades for wood are available in two types, manufactured from various types of material. The PIRANIA Plus series saw blades are manufactured out of chrome-nickel steel enriched with molybdenum and vanadium. This type of steel is characterized by its higher resistance to abrasion as well as elasticity and band fatigue resistance. The second type of saw blades – ORKA Plus – is manufactured out of tool steel with an increased chromium content. In the standard version, these saw blades are offered as ground and set. Upon request, they can also be prepared in a version with tempered teeth. PIRANIA Plus saw blades are offered in widths of 32, 35, 40, and 500 mm and thicknesses of 1.0 mm and 1.1 mm.

A Company with Tradition

This year FPiN WAPIENICA Ltd. from Bielsko-Biała is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Its products have been appreciated and awarded many times for their innovativeness and high quality.
Produkcja Mebli,  No. 5/2006 (May)

Two years ago, the company received the “Teraz Polska” (Poland Now) distinction, which took into consideration saw blades for power tools KOLIBER, BRYTAN, OSA and others. The same year, the organizers of the “Drema” Fair have appreciated the clever and attractive design of their client-friendly booth and awarded it with the title of “Acanthus Aureus”.
The company’s dynamism is determined by a constantly expanding offer and fulfilment of investments into the expansion of its technology park. FPiN Wapienica has been present at the fair each year since the beginning of MTP’s organization of industry exhibition events. Prestige is very important to us – stresses Jan Kuś. We wish to emphasize the fact that we have been on the market since 1921 and are prospering very well. As to exhibiting domestically, the “Drema” Fair is the most important to us.
GLOBUS at “Drema”
The idea of the company’s booth at this year’s edition of “Drema” was a clear presentation of the full assortment of products, directed to companies in the timber industry: sawmilling, furniture and wood joinery.
Among the new products presented at the fair were formed cutters with a soldered HM plate and heads with interchangeable HM plates, HM planer knives and MULTIX Diablo coated saw blades, used in multi-blade saw systems for the sawmill industry. MULTIX Diablo series saw blades are covered with a special fluoropolymer coating, which, thanks to its protective properties, is characterized by being resistant against impurities, like resin, sticking to its surface. The coating is also characterized by its high chemical resistance. Its minimal coefficient of friction eliminates the effect of friction vibrations and overheating of side surfaces of the blade. The fluoropolymer coating is also resistant to temperatures increasing during use. The extended life of the tool results in saving time related with retooling the machine park. The exploitation cost is decreased by 30% and the cost of tools for one cubic metre of sawn wood is decreased by 35%.
The previously announced offer regarding formed cutters, heads with an interchangeable plate and HM solid carbide shank cutters has met with a positive response and approval.
Quite unexpected was the expansion of FPiN WAPIENICA’s offer directed to furniture producers, by a full range of PCD (polycrystalline diamond) tools, such as: shank cutters, formed cutters, heads and saws blades. PCK milling cutters are most unique because of their spiral’s type and shape, which makes it possible to achieve high rates of feed. The company, as the only company on the Polish market, offers chromium covered milling cutters, which significantly extends their life and plays an important role in preventing corrosion during use and grinding. Along with the expansion of the offer, the company provides the service of grinding and repair of PCD tools. This year, the company has expanded its offer of HM carbide planer knives by a full range of sizes. Knives with HM blades have a much longer lifespan than HSS blades (about 5 times).
